"Butterflies"

We all know the idiom “butterflies in the stomach”. This image  describes those somewhat unpleasant sensations we experience as we think about an upcoming challenge. And what can be more challenging than the perspective of a career change or a potential loss of income?

We may become so focused on this fluttery sensation that we start to feel like our body is out of control.  It seems to be letting us down and  translate our worst fears. We may even convince ourselves that this is the sign that we are going to fail. The more we think about being turned down, the worse our stomach gets.

With EFT, or “tapping”, as it is also known, you can address those sensations and the fears behind them. I want to help you feel confident on the day. This is why I prepared a tapping script just for you.

Many of my clients come to see me because they feel unable to take action.

They tell me they lack confidence and very often, this fluttering feeling is mentioned at some point.

Some people have it before we tap, sometimes it shows up as we tap.

But it is the same issue: their fears have taken control and are now running the show.

Tapping Points

If you are not familiar with EFT and tapping points, you may want to take a few minutes to practise.

Gently tap each point about 7 times, following the sequence 9 (set up statements) then 2-3-4-5-6-7-8-1.

Tapping Script

I am using “butterflies in my stomach” as an example, but you are free to change for something you find more relevant (for example: “My throat feels so tight, I am afraid I will not be able to speak”).

Side of the hand: Even though I have butterflies in my stomach when I think about this interview, I accept this feeling.

Even though I have this feeling in my stomach, and it’s hard to  focus on anything else, right here, right now, I am safe.

Even though my stomach feels like it’s full of butterflies and I am afraid it will get worse on the day and that I will fail this interview, I am safe in this moment.

Eyebrow: I have these butterflies in my stomach.

Side of the eye: What if I fail?

Under the eye: But right now, I am safe.

Under the nose: I have this sensation but I am safe anyway.

Under the mouth: In spite of this feeling, I am safe.

Collarbone: It’s just a sensation and I am safe.

Under the arm: It is normal to feel a bit anxious. I am safe right now.

Top of the head: I am safe right now and it feels so good.

Eyebrow: I choose to let go of this sensation.

Side of the eye: I choose to focus on the here and now.

Under the eye: I am here, focusing on feeling safe.

Under the nose: I am safe. I feel safe.

Under the mouth: I focus on feeling safe.

Collarbone: I know that I am safe.

Under the arm: It is comforting to know that I am safe.

Top of the head: The here and now is safe.

Eyebrow: I am safe in the now and choose to focus on relaxing.

Side of the eye: Right here, right now I am safe and can relax.

Under the eye: It feels so good to be fully present.

Under the nose: It is so nice to be relaxed.

Under the mouth: I am relaxed.

Collarbone: This tapping is so relaxing.

Under the arm: I am so relaxed.

Top of the head: It’s like being in a safe bubble.

Eyebrow: Since I know that I am safe and fully relaxed.

Side of the eye: I choose to remind myself of past successes

Under the eye: It is safe to think of my past successes.

Under the nose: It is safe to remind myself that I can succeed.

Under the mouth: I am able to succeed.

Collarbone: I see myself succeed.

Under the arm: I acknowledge my ability to succeed.

Top of the head: I choose to tune into this vibration of success.

Eyebrow: I believe in my ability to show up at this interview with confidence.

Side of the eye: I am safe in my present and I choose to focus on feeling confident.

Under the eye: I choose to feel calm, prepared and confident.

Under the nose: I am safe and allow myself to feel confident about this interview.

Under the mouth: I choose to feel confident.

Collarbone: This interview is going to go so smoothly.

Under the arm: It will be a piece of cake. I will remain calm during my interview.

Top of the head: I see myself as confident and choose to remain relaxed about this process.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this session! Until next time, stay blessed.
